Commissioner’s message

I am pleased to present the 2025–26 Annual Review for the State Revenue Office of Victoria.

We continued to deliver strong results in 2025–26. Our organisation collected $36.6 billion in revenue – the most we have assessed in a financial year.

The revenue we collect allows the Victorian Government to provide important services that benefit people across the state.

Over the past 12 months, we have continued to deliver our 2023–27 Strategic Plan, guided by our vision to be recognised as one of Victoria’s best performing organisations.

The year in review

Throughout 2025–26, we remained committed to improving our customers’ experience, earning awards for both our new-look website and our customer contact centre.

In December, we launched a redesigned website to make it easier for customers to find information, complete tasks and access our online services. Our new website was named Best Government Website at the 2026 Australian Web Awards.

Our contact centre was also awarded Best Government Contact Centre of the Year and nominated for Best AI Project at the 2026 Customer Contact Week Excellence Awards. This recognition acknowledges our new voice-activated call routing system, which has helped reduce waiting times.

Additionally, we:

  • implemented the emergency services and volunteers fund and other legislative changes
  • helped thousands of Victorians buy or build their own home through duty reductions for first home buyers and pensioners, the First Home Owner Grant and the Victorian Homebuyer Fund
  • assessed $1.1 billion in revenue through compliance activities
  • delivered almost 300 education sessions for more than 10,000 attendees
  • decreased our debt-to-revenue ratio to 1.89%, which is one of the best in the whole of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
  • improved our customer satisfaction rating to 86%.

We also continued to modernise our technology by delivering a range of enhancements that make our online services even simpler and more secure for our customers.

The year ahead

As we enter the final year of our strategic plan, we will begin shaping our next plan to deliver our vision over the next 4 years.

In 2026–27, our priorities include:

  • continuing to explore and implement the ethical use of AI
  • investing in upgrades that meet our strategic goal of transforming our technology
  • strengthening our compliance activity
  • providing development programs and learning resources that encourage excellence in our people.

I am proud of our organisation’s achievements over the past 12 months, and I look forward to continuing to provide fair, efficient and quality revenue management services across all the taxes, levies, grants and funds we administer.
